Mrs. Bessie Abernathy, 66, of 509 Oak, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 9, 1978) at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she has been a patient since Aug. 1. She had been ill for several years. Mrs. Abernathey had lived at the Oak Street address 16 years. A resident of Tilton much of her life, she had been employed at the Gaufe House in Tilton and later at the Hotel Wolford in Danville. She was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. Mrs. Abernathy was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Stringtown, Ind. Survivors include two sons, Sam of Alvin and Terry of Tilton: a daughter, Mrs. David (Linda) Estes of Danville; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded I death by three sisters and a brother. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barrick& Son Funeral Home with Gene Stinson officiating. Burial will be in Green Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral Home. -- tch
